Toughest Alive Hourglass - Seattle

Race The Hourglass: Embrace the Countdown Challenge
Step into an exhilarating race where every round is shorter than the last, pushing your limits with each tick of the clock. Race The Hourglass challenges runners to complete loops before time runs out, offering a unique blend of competition and camaraderie.
The course features four distinct formats:
- RUN: Tackle 2-mile laps.
- HYBRID: Combine running with strength exercises by completing 10 judged burpees at the start/finish after each lap.
- RUCK: Carry weight while navigating a 1-mile loop, suitable for adult and youth divisions with specific pack requirements.
- WALK: Enjoy a leisurely pace on 1-mile loops.
The day begins with a generous 30-minute window to complete your first round. Each subsequent round reduces by one minute until the clock catches up with you. This format ensures that every participant, from seasoned runners to newcomers, faces a real challenge while having the opportunity to see how far they can go before time runs out.
The event is designed for families and includes youth divisions tailored specifically for young athletes. Kids participate in similar formats but with lighter weight requirements or no added weight at all. Every athlete under 18 must have a parent or legal guardian sign off on their participation, ensuring safety and support throughout the day.
Race The Hourglass thrives on its community spirit. Spectators are encouraged to cheer loudly for runners as they approach the finish line within seconds of the horn sounding. This shared experience fosters new friendships and mutual encouragement among participants who share a common goal: to keep pushing until time stops them in their tracks.
Aid stations, music, and a welcoming atmosphere make this event more than just a race—it's an adventure in endurance where every round brings you back to familiar faces at the start/finish line. The day progresses with strategic decisions about pacing, fueling, and rest intervals as the clock relentlessly ticks down.
