Thoresby Park Longhorn Trail Event – April 18, 2027
Step into the lush landscapes of Thoresby Park on Saturday, April 18, 2027, for an unforgettable trail running experience. Nestled within over a thousand acres of serene parkland, this event offers runners of all fitness levels a chance to explore stunning trails that wind through historic grounds and natural beauty.
The estate is home to the magnificent Thoresby Hall—a 17th-century mansion with its own world-class art collection—and is teeming with wildlife including wild deer and the iconic long-horned cattle. The flat terrain of this expansive park makes it an ideal destination for both novice trail runners and seasoned athletes looking to push their limits.
Participants can choose from a variety of routes, ranging from a family-friendly 2km stroll suitable for ages five and up (excluding Cani-Cross), through the scenic 5km and 10km options recommended for more experienced runners aged eleven and older. For those seeking longer distances, half marathon and full marathon races are available to runners aged seventeen and above.
Cani-cross enthusiasts will find this event particularly appealing as it welcomes dogs on leads or harnesses during designated start times for the Cani-Cross category. Nordic walkers are also invited to join any of the trail lengths at their preferred pace.
The day’s activities kick off with a 2km run starting at 9:15 AM, followed by various distances and categories throughout the morning. All races will be timed using live chip timing provided by Timing Up North, ensuring accurate results for all participants.
