About the Event

Experience the rugged beauty of the Peak District on the Free 16km Trail Run and Hike to Kinder Scout. This challenging adventure begins at The Penny Pot Café in Edale, where participants will embark on an exhilarating journey up Grindsbrook Clough followed by a steep ascent via Jacob's Ladder.
The route winds through dense woodland before opening onto panoramic views of the moorland above. As you climb, prepare for technical terrain and steep ascents that test your endurance and determination. The path along Grindsbrook Clough is particularly demanding, with rocky outcrops and narrow trails adding to the challenge.
Once at Jacob's Ladder, brace yourself for a series of metal steps carved into the hillside—a true testament to human ingenuity in nature’s raw form. This section requires focus and steady footing as you ascend nearly vertically towards Kinder Scout’s summit.
Upon reaching the plateau, runners are rewarded with sweeping vistas stretching across the Pennine landscape. The air is crisp, and the scenery is nothing short of breathtaking—perfect for those seeking solitude or camaraderie among fellow adventurers.
This event offers a blend of physical challenge and natural beauty, making it an unforgettable experience for trail enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. Whether you are looking to push your limits on technical terrain or simply enjoy the serene surroundings, this 16km journey up Kinder Scout promises an adventure that will leave lasting memories.
For those interested in joining, meet at The Penny Pot Café in Edale to start your ascent towards one of Britain’s most iconic hill walking routes.
