The Summit 200 is an extraordinary multi-day mountain adventure that offers runners a unique blend of breathtaking scenery and challenging terrain. Set to take place on July 26, 2027, this race features one continuous loop through the stunning landscapes of Summit County, Colorado.
Participants will traverse over 200 miles, with elevation gains exceeding 39,000 feet across varied trails that include single-track paths and forest roads. The route reaches its lowest point above 9,000 feet but also ventures up to nearly 13,000 feet at its highest points, providing a diverse range of scenery from lush forests to alpine meadows.
The race is designed for a small group of just 100 runners, ensuring an intimate and personalized experience. Each participant will receive top-notch support with full aid stations every few miles, four sleep stations where they can rest overnight, and drop bags at key points along the route. To enhance safety and tracking, all participants are provided with a Garmin Messenger for real-time GPS updates.
In addition to the challenging terrain, runners will enjoy made-to-order hot meals at most aid stations, including vegan options, ensuring that nutritional needs are met throughout this epic journey. The race also offers an impressive array of swag items such as custom-designed shirts, duffle bags, and coffee mugs for all participants, while finishers receive a large, decorative buckle and a commemorative jacket with unique patches each year.
The Summit 200 is committed to flexibility and understanding the unpredictable nature of life. Participants have up to three months before race day to request deferrals at various credit rates that do not expire for an extended period, providing significant financial protection in case of unforeseen circumstances. The event organizers also offer a military discount for veterans and active service members who can contact them directly for special codes.
With its blend of natural beauty, challenging terrain, and supportive community atmosphere, the Summit 200 offers runners a once-in-a-lifetime experience that celebrates both personal achievement and the spirit of adventure in one of America's most stunning settings.
