The Rough Rider 2026

The Rough Rider, set to debut in 2026, promises an exhilarating blend of adventure and history across Arizona's high desert landscape. Based out of Historic Downtown Prescott, this three-day gravel stage race is more than just a competition; it’s a journey through the spirit of the Old West.
Participants will find themselves immersed in the rich legacy of Bucky O’Neil and the rough-and-ready cavalrymen who once patrolled these lands during the Spanish-American War. The event's routes wind through the picturesque Prescott National Forest, offering riders challenging terrain and breathtaking vistas that highlight Arizona’s iconic natural beauty.
Scheduled for October 30 to November 1, 2026, with registration opening on October 22 at 9am Mountain Time, this race is limited to just 300 intrepid cyclists. Each day of the event will feature a unique blend of long and short course options, catering to both seasoned gravel enthusiasts and those looking for an unforgettable adventure.
The Rough Rider experience goes beyond the ride itself, with afternoon socials in Historic Downtown Prescott that celebrate the local culture and camaraderie among riders. Daily rider briefings ensure everyone is up-to-date on safety measures and route details, while professionally mapped routes are clearly marked and supported throughout each stage.
Riders will enjoy fully stocked aid stations every 15-20 miles to keep them fueled and hydrated as they tackle the varied terrain of Prescott’s backcountry. Each day concludes with awards ceremonies that recognize the achievements of participants in various age and gender categories, including Young Guns (ages 16-49), Women's Regiment, Men's Regiment, Non-Binary riders, and the Old Guard (age 50+).
In addition to the competitive spirit, all entrants will receive a Rough Rider T-shirt and exclusive souvenirs, as well as chip timing for accurate results. Swag and sponsor giveaways add an extra layer of excitement, ensuring that participants leave with more than just memories.
While there are no refunds available should circumstances force cancellation, transfers may be considered at the discretion of TransRockies US LP. The Rough Rider is about embracing challenges head-on and leaving behind a legacy as bold and enduring as Arizona's own storied past.
