The Nearly But Not Quite London Marathon

On April 24, 2027, runners and walkers alike have the opportunity to participate in a unique time challenge event that offers an open-ended distance option along the picturesque River Thames. The race begins at 9am from The Last Hop in Staines, featuring well-marked paths and tarmac routes with minimal grass sections suitable for road shoes throughout the year.
Participants can choose their own distances ranging from a minimum of 3km to longer ultra runs, making it ideal for runners aiming for half-marathons (7 laps), marathons (14 laps), or even more ambitious goals. The course is designed with turn points at both 3k and 5k marks to accommodate younger participants according to UK Athletics guidelines.
Upon crossing the finish line after completing a minimum of 3km, all runners receive an impressive themed medal celebrating their achievement. For those who complete half-marathon distances or beyond, additional distance pins are available as recognition for each milestone reached.
The event also includes a generous goody bag filled with treats and refreshments, including vegan options upon request at registration. A well-stocked aid table is set up near the start/finish area offering water, snacks like crisps, cheese, fruit, cookies, and other sustenance to keep runners fueled throughout their run.
In addition to these perks, members of UK Athletics affiliated clubs receive a £2 discount on entry fees, while club memberships offer even more benefits such as guaranteed entry and exclusive mini-me medal pins. The Last Hop venue provides basic facilities including toilets; however, no changing rooms or showers are available onsite.
Parking is conveniently located at Bridge Street Car Park in Staines for those traveling by car. Detailed race day instructions will be emailed out a week before the event date to ensure all participants know what to expect on race morning.
