The McTaggart Trot 2026

The McTaggart Trot returns to Eppleby for another festive edition in 2025, this time aiming to raise funds for St Teresa's Hospice. This unique relay race offers an engaging way to enjoy the holiday season with friends and family while supporting a worthy cause.
Participants can enter as teams of three or individually. Each team member runs different distances: one completes 5km, another tackles 10km, and the third finishes at 15km. Teams start together at a pace determined by their slowest runner. After the first loop (at the 5km mark), the slowest runner stops while the remaining two continue to the 10km point where they hand over to the final team member for the last leg.
For solo runners, simply indicate your expected time when registering, and organizers will match you with other individuals to form a complete relay team. Adding an extra layer of fun, competitors are encouraged to wear Christmas-themed outfits throughout the race.
The course itself is a scenic 3.1-mile (5km) loop around Eppleby’s charming countryside, providing runners with beautiful vistas and a pleasant setting for this community-driven event. The Village Hall in Eppleby serves as both the starting point and finish line, making it easy to gather before or after the race.
