The Terras Altas Trail Run offers runners an exhilarating journey through the lush landscapes of Itamonte, nestled within the heart of Serra da Mantiqueira. This scenic region is part of both Parque Nacional do Itatiaia and Parque Estadual Serra do Papagaio, providing a rich tapestry of natural beauty with its waterfalls, trails, and breathtaking vistas. Scheduled for July 4, 2027, the event features five distinct distances: 55km, 35km, 25km, 15km, and 7km. The longer routes (55km, 35km, and 25km) are recognized by UTMB Index and contribute to ITRA points. Participants can choose their preferred distance at the time of registration. The race is designed for self-sufficiency; runners must carry all mandatory equipment, hydration supplies, clothing, and food throughout the course without any designated aid stations or checkpoints. This challenging format allows racers flexibility in pacing themselves along the rugged terrain while enjoying the serene beauty of Itamonte’s natural surroundings. Trophies are awarded to the top five finishers overall and by age category for both men and women across all distances. Registration closes on May 31, 2027, or when each distance's quota is filled. Visit www.terrasaltastrailrun.com.br for more details and entry fees ranging from R$350 to R$900 depending on the chosen distance.
