Taunton Half Marathon & Kids Kilometre Fun Run

The Taunton Half Marathon, now entering its 41st year, is more than just a race; it's an integral part of the local running community. For decades, runners from all walks of life have taken to the streets of Taunton for this beloved half-marathon distance event. Whether you're tackling your first half marathon or aiming to break personal best times, the atmosphere at this race is electric.
This year marks a new chapter in the event's history as it transitions under fresh leadership with a vision to honor its legacy while infusing it with innovative elements. The three incoming directors bring extensive experience from organizing trail races and aim to blend their community-centric approach with the professional standards expected of road racing.
One exciting addition this season is the introduction of a 'Kids Kilometre' fun run, which starts shortly after the main event using the same start and finish lines as the half marathon. This allows young runners to experience the thrill of race day in a supportive environment.
The race will now begin and end right in Taunton's bustling town center, with North Street serving as the grand stage for both races' finishes. The iconic Market House stands proudly at the finish line, adding an extra layer of excitement and local pride to every runner’s journey. With traffic closures ensuring safety for runners and spectators alike, friends and family can easily join along the route or cheer from designated viewing spots.
All participants in both events will receive a commemorative medal upon crossing the finish line, celebrating their hard-earned achievement regardless of age or experience level.
The half marathon starts promptly at 10:00 AM, followed by the Kids Kilometre starting just fifteen minutes later. Runners have until 2 PM to complete the course before the cut-off time.
Awards will be given in various age categories for both male and female participants:
- Male: Open (under 30), V40, V50, V60, V70
- Female: Open (under 30), V40, V50, V60, V70

Participants are reminded of specific regulations regarding equipment use; in-ear or covered ear headphones are not permitted but bone conducting headphones are allowed as per UKA Rule T55. Additionally, bib numbers must be displayed prominently on the front torso area and folded or obscured numbers will lead to disqualification.
