About the Event

The Minehead Sprint Triathlon returns with an exhilarating blend of sea swim, scenic cycling, and invigorating run along the stunning coastline of Somerset. Since taking over from Somerset Activity and Sports Partnership in 2018, Channel Events has transformed this event into a must-do finale for British triathletes.
Diving straight into action, participants start with an exhilarating open water sea swim spanning 750 meters within Minehead Bay's protected waters, framed by the majestic North Hill. The swim sets the tone for what promises to be an unforgettable day of competition and camaraderie.
The cycling leg follows a fast yet undulating route that takes competitors along stunning roads towards Porlock Village in Exmoor National Park. Cyclists will encounter breathtaking vistas as they pedal through high moorland terrain, making this section not only challenging but visually rewarding.
Competitors then transition to the run portion on a 5km course that combines flat seafront promenade and off-road trails within Culver Cliff woods. The route features an iconic 'Cheeky Climb' Strava segment just before runners return along the beach to cross the finish line with arms raised triumphantly amidst cheering crowds.
For those looking for flexibility, this year’s event offers a unique option: participants can choose not to receive a medal or t-shirt upon completion. However, these items remain available as optional extras through an online store until one month before the race date. This initiative helps keep entry fees low and reduces environmental impact by catering only to those who wish for tangible memorabilia.
Relay teams should note that each member will need their own set of medals or t-shirts if they decide to purchase them, ensuring everyone's experience is celebrated equally.
