Sunset to Full Moon Hike @ Muratie OCT'26

Experience the enchantment of early autumn under the stars at Muratie Wine Estate on October 25, 2026. Join Dirtopia’s Sunset to Full Moon Hike and embark on a scenic journey through the rolling hills and forests of this picturesque estate as the sun sets over Cape Town. The hike begins with an ascent along a well-marked trail that culminates at a lookout point above Muratie's cellar, offering breathtaking views of Simonsberg, the Winelands, and even Table Mountain.
As you reach the top around sunset (19:06), enjoy a glass of Muratie’s award-winning wine from an array of options including MCC, Dry Rose, Laurens Campher or Melck’s Dry Red blend. The descent back to Dirtopia Trail Centre is illuminated by the gentle glow of your headlamp and the full moon rising behind Simonsberg (visible around 18:30). This circular route covers a total distance of 3.5km with over 200 hand-built steps, taking approximately 45 minutes uphill.
Hikers are encouraged to arrive anytime from 5:15 pm but should plan their start no later than 6:00 pm for the best experience. Be sure to bring along a picnic and your own headlamp or torch, as well as warm clothing suitable for cooler evening temperatures. Snacks and coffee will be available at Dirtopia Trail Centre where you can also purchase permits upon arrival.
