Southend Half Marathon

This longstanding event has raised over £2 million for Havens Hospices, an Essex-based charity that provides essential care and support to people living with incurable conditions across the county.
The race begins at East Beach in Shoeburyness, where runners will be greeted by enthusiastic spectators lining the picturesque seafront route. The two-lap course offers a flat and fast road environment ideal for both seasoned athletes aiming for personal bests and newcomers tackling their first half marathon. With breathtaking views of the Thames Estuary along the way, this race promises an unforgettable experience.
Participants from across South East England as well as further afield will enjoy ample support throughout the event. The route is traffic-free, ensuring a smooth run with wheelchair athletes also welcome to join in the festivities. Detailed maps and GPX files are available for download, allowing runners to familiarize themselves with every turn before race day.
Beyond its competitive spirit, the Southend Half Marathon stands as a testament to community support and charity work. By participating, you'll contribute directly to Havens Hospices' mission of enhancing quality of life through free-of-charge care services provided within patients’ homes or at Fair Havens and Little Havens Hospices.
