Smurf's Backyard Ultra - 2027

Set against the lush backdrop of tropical Cairns in Far North Queensland, Australia, Smurf's Backyard Ultra invites runners to challenge themselves on the renowned Smithfield Mountain Bike Trails. Each lap covers 6.7 kilometers and is run every hour until participants can no longer continue. The event offers a unique atmosphere that sets it apart from other endurance races in the region. In addition to the full ultramarathon experience, there are two alternative options: the BYU Mini, which allows runners to complete up to six laps for those looking for a shorter challenge, and the BYU Taster, featuring just one lap of the scenic course. This event is more than a race; it's an immersive experience that draws participants into its distinctive environment, making it an unmissable highlight in the local endurance calendar.
