Smith Rock Classic

Embark on an unforgettable journey through Smith Rock State Park at the Smith Rock Classic, scheduled for May 29, 2027. This springtime race offers three challenging distances: 50 miles, 50K, and a scenic 10-mile course, each one showcasing Oregon’s stunning natural beauty.
The 10M route takes runners on an exhilarating adventure to the summit of Gray Butte, offering breathtaking views of Smith Rock State Park and the majestic Cascade Mountains. Starting at Skull Hollow, participants climb up single-track trails before reaching the top for a momentary pause at the aid station. The descent back down via Cole Loop trail provides a unique perspective as runners traverse diverse terrains within the park.
For those seeking an even greater challenge, the 50M and 50K courses feature two loops through Smith Rock State Park and beyond into the Crooked River Grasslands. These routes wind along Wolf Tree Trail, Misery Ridge, and riverfront paths, delivering a mix of steep ascents and descents with spectacular views throughout. Aid stations are strategically placed to support runners as they navigate rugged single-track trails and gravel roads.
The Smith Rock Classic promises an immersive experience in the heart of Oregon's high desert landscape. With its combination of challenging terrain and breathtaking scenery, this event is not just a race but an opportunity to explore some of nature’s most captivating vistas.
