Silvesterloop De Lege Geaën

On December 31, 2026, the Lege Geaën Silvesterloop returns to Poppenwier for its annual festive run and walk. This beloved tradition draws hundreds of participants young and old who come together to enjoy a final burst of holiday cheer before ringing in the new year with physical activity.
The event offers several distance options: 21 km runs starting at 13:00, 21 km walks beginning earlier at 11:00, both routes winding through scenic countryside. Additionally, there are shorter 10 and 5 km courses for those looking to enjoy the festive atmosphere without committing to a long-distance event.
Participants gather on the parking lot of Eetcafé De Trilker in Poppenwier before the race begins with the traditional carbidbus bang at their respective start times. Along the way, runners will pass through charming rural landscapes and have opportunities for refreshments at various checkpoints along the route.
After crossing the finish line, everyone is greeted by a special souvenir to commemorate their participation in this unique New Year's Eve celebration. Pre-registration remains open until December 28, 2026, allowing plenty of time for participants to secure their spots and prepare for an unforgettable day of fun and fitness.
The event caters equally to serious runners training for future competitions as it does to casual walkers seeking a leisurely way to enjoy the outdoors. Whether you're looking to push your limits or simply join in on the festive spirit, the Silvesterloop offers something memorable for everyone involved.
