Run Like a Haggis MapRun - Blanchland

Explore the scenic trails around Blanchland with this unique navigation score event. Participants can choose from three course options, each offering different durations: 1 hour, 2 hours, or 3 hours. Using an OS Explorer map and the MapRun app on your smartphone, you'll navigate through a network of public footpaths and bridleways in the valley and fells surrounding Grasmere.
The courses are designed to be accessible for all abilities, whether you're an experienced navigator or new to the sport. Runners, joggers, and walkers can enjoy this event at their own pace while collecting points by visiting as many checkpoints as possible within the allotted time frame. The rolling start begins at 10am with participants able to begin anytime between then and noon.
Registration takes place at Blanchland Village Hall where you'll also find toilets available for use before starting your adventure. Parking is conveniently located near the village hall, or alternatively in a larger car park within the village itself. Participants who opt for the full three-hour course should aim to start by no later than 11am to ensure they have enough time to complete all checkpoints before the courses close at 2pm. A slice of cake and a hot or cold drink are included with your entry, providing a sweet reward upon completion of the event.
No dogs are permitted on this occasion, allowing runners to focus solely on their navigation challenge without any furry companions tagging along.
