This annual tradition began in 2015 with just a handful of runners; now it draws hundreds each December. The funds raised support local breast cancer initiatives and scholarships for young women facing financial hardships due to their treatment.
The course offers a variety of distances, including both 10K and 5K options, as well as a family-friendly 1-mile fun run for younger participants and the more challenging half-marathon route. Starting at Freedom Park, the course winds its way through downtown Decatur before circling back to the finish line in the same park. No timing chips are used; however, participants can track their own times using apps like Strava or RunKeeper if they choose and submit them for posting online. The route is flat with minimal elevation changes.
