Welcome to the 5th Annual Route 66 UltraRun, a celebration of the history of the Mother Road, and she is 100 years old! As a Certified Route 66 Centennial Event there are truly Once-In-A-Lifetime reasons to join the excitement in 2026. Our first rule is Have Fun, as illustrated in our post-race video from last year. Take a look. The 2026 event includes the original 140-mile race from Seligman to Topock66 and, to commemorate the Centennial of Route 66, the new 100-mile CenturyRun from Peach Springs to Topock66. Both races take you through expansive valleys, pinon pine forests, rugged mountains, desert landscapes, and marshes past iconic Americana. The race remembers and celebrates the 1928 Bunion Derby runners that stepped on the very same stretch of the Route; Oakie’s migration during the Dust Bowl; the boom years of family road trips followed by the decline after the interstate system bypassed small towns, then the grassroots resurgence that led to the official recognition of Historic Route 66. With 60 hours to complete the 140-mile race, and 48 hours to complete the CenturyRun, and no intermediate cutoffs, you'll have plenty of time to enjoy the beauty and iconic stops along the way. For both distances Crewed Runners must complete all of the miles on their own two feet with the support of crew/pacers; at least two, and no more than four for 140 miles, and a max of two for the CenturyRun. With prior approval from the Race Directors, two Crewed Runners may share a crew if they stay together for the entire race. You can also participate as a member of a Relay Team; teams of three to six people for the 140-mile race and three, four, or five people for the CenturyRun. Whatever size team you choose all teams will compete equally against each other in the Relay Team division for their race distance. There are no set leg-lengths or transition points; you decide who runs when and for how long, and you can adjust your plan as needed during the race. It's all about strategy, baby! Crewed Runners, Relay Team members, and Journey Runners that cross the finish line will get a kitschy, colored, enamel finishers medal and unique finisher's shirt featuring an original art piece only for the Centennial.
