Round the Island Race

Returning after a hiatus, this iconic trail running event promises an unforgettable journey around the picturesque coastal path of Mersea Island, Essex. Supporting the Mersea Island Lions charity through your entry fee, you'll be contributing to efforts that have long benefited the local community.
The half marathon course is designed as a single loop, winding along the island's stunning coastline and offering breathtaking views at every turn. The event features regular aid stations stocked with essential supplies, ensuring runners are well-fueled throughout their run. Participants should bring their own cups for hydration points to help reduce waste; collapsible speedcups can be purchased during registration or on race day for £2.50 each.
Registration begins promptly at 7:45 AM, followed by a brief but crucial briefing starting at 8:50 AM. The event itself kicks off at 9:00 AM sharp, and runners have until 1 PM to complete the course before the four-hour cut-off time takes effect.
Parking is conveniently located near the start/finish area, along with accessible toilets for your convenience.
The Mersea Island Lions Club, chartered in 1978, has been a cornerstone of community service on the island for nearly five decades. Their mission remains focused on helping those less fortunate and fostering camaraderie among members.
