Round the Island Race

Immerse yourself in the beauty of Essex's coastal landscapes with the return of this iconic trail running event on Mersea Island. Set against the backdrop of stunning natural scenery, runners will experience a fully supported half marathon loop along the island’s picturesque coastal path.
A portion of your entry fee goes directly to supporting the Mersea Island Lions charity, ensuring that proceeds are used to benefit local community initiatives and support those in need within the area for years to come.
The race features regular aid stations equipped with an array of treats—both sweet and savory—to keep you energized throughout your journey around the island’s unique terrain.
Participants must bring their own reusable cups as part of a cupless initiative, promoting environmental sustainability. Speedcups can be purchased during registration or on race day for £2.50 each if needed.
The event kicks off at 9:00 AM sharp with an informative briefing starting at 8:50 AM to ensure everyone is well-prepared and informed about the course details before setting out. Registration opens early, allowing runners plenty of time to prepare from 7:45 AM onwards.
Parking facilities are conveniently located near the start/finish area, making it easy for participants to access all necessary amenities on race day. The event adheres strictly to a four-hour cut-off time, ensuring that everyone can enjoy their run at a comfortable pace while still completing within the designated timeframe.
