About the Event

Abbey Village Trail Races: A Spring Spectacle for All Ages
Step into the heart of spring at Abbey Village with an invigorating day filled with two distinct trail races designed to cater to runners of all levels and ages. The Roddlesworth Roller and Daffodil Doddle offer a blend of scenic beauty, community spirit, and competitive excitement.
The Roddlesworth Roller is a 9km trail race that winds through the picturesque lakes and woodlands surrounding Abbey Village. This well-marked course features good paths and quiet roads, making it an ideal choice for seasoned runners looking to kickstart their season or those aiming to push themselves harder this year. Participants will enjoy breathtaking views of serene landscapes as they navigate around the village.
The Daffodil Doddle, on the other hand, is a 2.2km junior and fun run that has been a beloved part of the community for nearly four decades. With strict entry limits due to overwhelming popularity, this off-road race invites young runners aged 4 years and above into an environment rich with camaraderie and support. The course is meticulously marshalled to ensure safety and enjoyment, making it perfect for first-timers or families who want a shorter but equally engaging experience.
Both events are fully supported by dedicated volunteers and medical staff, ensuring that every participant can focus on enjoying the race without worry. Each finisher will receive a free medal along with refreshments at the end of their run.
Entry fees vary based on whether you register online or in person; early registration is advised to secure your spot as these events often sell out quickly.
The Roddlesworth Roller offers prizes for top overall male and female runners, veteran categories, and team competitions. The Daffodil Doddle awards medals to the first three boys and girls from Abbey Village School alongside individual winners in each gender category.
Participants are encouraged to dress appropriately for the weather conditions on race day and arrive early to collect their race packs. For those taking part in the longer distance event, trainers with good grip are recommended due to varying terrain types along the route.
Join us at Abbey Village Trail Races this spring and be a part of a tradition that celebrates fitness, friendship, and fun for all participants.
