Ricc10ne Sunset Run

The Riccione Sunset Run, now in its second year, is an official 10K race recognized by the Italian Athletics Federation (FIDAL). The event takes place on September 18, 2027, starting at Piazzale Roma just as the sun begins to set. Participants will experience a unique and unconventional timing for this type of competition, with runners setting off at 6:30 PM in the fading light.
The race route covers scenic areas that are emblematic of Riccione, offering breathtaking views and an unforgettable atmosphere under the twilight sky. The course is designed to be accessible and includes support options tailored for individuals with disabilities, ensuring inclusivity for all participants. Families will appreciate the inclusion of stroller-friendly paths, while spingitori (wheelchair racers) are also accommodated.
After crossing the finish line back at Piazzale Roma, runners can look forward to a lively celebration that extends well into the evening. The festivities include live music performances and DJ sets, as well as an extensive food area featuring both traditional local delicacies and modern street cuisine options. This event is not just about racing; it’s also a vibrant community gathering celebrating health, wellness, and social inclusion.
The Riccione Sunset Run collaborates with the San Patrignano Community to highlight the transformative power of sports in overcoming personal challenges and promoting recovery from substance abuse. A portion of the proceeds will support these initiatives, fostering real inclusivity and reducing marginalization within the community.
Throughout the day, there are various activities planned for all ages and fitness levels. Free outdoor fitness sessions, youth sport demonstrations, and additional entertainment options provide a full festival experience that celebrates both well-known sports disciplines and lesser-known ones. The event aims to showcase the rich sporting landscape of Riccione while supporting local associations in their efforts.
Environmental sustainability is also a key focus for this year’s edition, with measures such as reduced plastic use, proper waste disposal practices, sustainable kits provided to participants, digital communication strategies, and educational programs aimed at raising awareness among attendees about environmental conservation.
For those interested in planning ahead, detailed schedules of activities will soon be available online, outlining the full day's events from morning through evening. Whether you’re a competitive runner or simply looking for an engaging way to enjoy Riccione’s vibrant community spirit, this unique sunset race offers something special for everyone involved.
The event promises not only physical challenges but also cultural and social enrichment, making it a must-attend experience for sports enthusiasts and locals alike on September 18, 2027.
