Rhodes Run - The Breathtaking Trail Run

The Rhodes Run invites trail runners to experience the untamed beauty of South Africa’s Drakensberg mountains, nestled in the Eastern Cape Highlands near the historic village of Rhodes. This 52-kilometer mountain trek offers breathtaking views and a challenging elevation gain of approximately 1,600 meters, with the route ascending from an altitude of 1,800 to 2,680 meters above sea level. Runners will traverse rugged terrain that stays mostly above 2,500 meters throughout, providing panoramic vistas over snow-dusted peaks and verdant valleys.
Starting early on July 10, 2027, the race begins in a festive atmosphere despite the chilly temperatures, often hovering around minus 10 degrees Celsius. The course winds through scenic trails that showcase the region’s natural splendor while testing runners’ endurance with steep climbs and technical sections. No financial prizes are awarded; instead, participants receive special pre- and post-race handouts treating all competitors equally.
