Join Saturn Running for our annual Remembrance Run, taking place on November 14, 2027. This heartfelt tribute to fallen heroes offers participants the chance to honor those who gave their ultimate sacrifice while earning an impressive themed medal. For a small additional fee of £3.00, runners can also collect a super cute poppy pin to commemorate their achievement alongside the medal. The event welcomes all abilities and encourages walkers as well. Members enjoy special benefits including access to discounted entry fees – up to £10 less than full price for this edition. Additionally, members receive exclusive perks like mini-me medal pins at every event they attend. Licensed by the Trail Running Association under UK Athletics rules, runners who are part of a UK Athletics affiliated club can secure an extra discount on their registration fee of £2.00. The race format is designed as a 6-hour and 32-minute time challenge, allowing participants to determine how far they wish to run within this timeframe. The minimum distance requirement for official completion is set at 3 kilometers; however, the full lap measures either approximately 4.37 miles or 7 kilometers (depending on course conditions). Runners are free to complete as many laps as desired while adhering to UK Athletics age restrictions. At precisely 11:00 AM, there will be a two-minute silence observed by all participants in memory of those who fought and gave their lives over the past century. This momentary pause is deducted from each runner's total time for final results calculation purposes. The scenic course follows along River Wear with stunning views of Durham Cathedral. It’s fully marked to ensure easy navigation without requiring any specialized skills or equipment. Upon completing at least 3 kilometers, participants receive a commemorative medal celebrating the brave soldiers who made sacrifices on behalf of their country. Distance pins are available for those running half-marathon distances and beyond, including Half-Marathon, Mega-Half, Marathon, 50km, and Ultra categories. All finishers will be rewarded with goody bags filled with various treats, alongside a vegan option catering to dietary preferences. A well-stocked aid station at the start/finish line offers refreshments like snacks, fruits, cheeses, and vegan-friendly items throughout the event duration. Participants are encouraged to reach out if they're marking significant milestones such as their 50th or 100th run with us; special running numbers bearing personalized names will be provided for these occasions. Facilities at Durham Amateur Rowing Club include accessible toilets available from early morning until late afternoon. The club also offers a bar and showers should runners wish to freshen up post-event. Parking options in the city center are pay-and-display, but participants must not use spaces reserved specifically for rowers near the venue. Detailed race day instructions will be distributed via email prior to November 14th, outlining all necessary information. Race numbers can be collected on-site at registration before commencement of activities. Runners and spectators alike should remain mindful of other path users as this event takes place along public footpaths within Durham's picturesque setting. Headphones are permitted for personal listening during the race but please exercise consideration towards others around you.
