Pulaski MTN-X

Experience the unique thrill of Pulaski MTN-X, a multifaceted cycling event held in Virginia’s scenic Pulaski County. The race offers three distinct distances: a 105-mile adventure with over 12,000 feet of elevation gain, a more manageable 52 miles covering nearly 6,000 feet of climbing, and a non-competitive 31-mile route for all abilities.
Navigating through Pulaski’s varied terrain, you'll encounter approximately two-thirds gravel paths and one-third asphalt roads. Some sections of the asphalt will be narrow, unpaved backcountry routes, adding to the authentic cycling experience.
Pulaski MTN-X adopts a "timed sectors" format that ensures safety for all participants. You won't race from start to finish but rather through specific timed segments along your route. Your total time across these sections determines your final ranking. This innovative approach guarantees a safer environment, as riders can focus on the road without worrying about stop signs and intersections.
Additionally, this format allows organizers to strategically place aid stations outside of the timed sectors, ensuring you have ample time for hydration and nutrition without the pressure of racing against the clock. You'll find these support points in untimed areas where you can socialize with fellow cyclists or simply take a breather before your next leg.
The event includes a comprehensive package: entry fees cover not only participation but also a post-ride meal, beverage, and an official t-shirt. To make it even more enjoyable, plan to arrive on Friday afternoon for the pre-race shake-out ride along the picturesque New River Trail. You'll have the opportunity to explore the area with fellow cyclists before joining in festivities at a local brewery.
Pulaski MTN-X promises to deliver a memorable day filled with beautiful scenery and camaraderie among participants, making it an event you won't want to miss.
