Pride 5k

The Pride 5K returns to Asheville, North Carolina on Saturday, June 20th. This event has been a staple of the local LGBTQIA2S+ community for three years now.
In the heart of Asheville's West End neighborhood, near Biltmore Avenue and just steps from the vibrant Blue Ridge Parkway, runners will start their journey through the city’s historic streets. The race course is set to wind its way along firm yet slightly soft paths, creating a unique atmosphere that is both welcoming and supportive for all participants.
Since 2023, this event has not only grown in popularity but also deepened its commitment to fostering visibility and inclusion within Asheville's LGBTQIA2S+ community. With hundreds of runners participating each year, the Pride 5K stands as more than just a race—it is an annual celebration that brings together friends and strangers alike.
The course venue offers a mix of firm paths and slightly soft surfaces, providing a challenging yet manageable terrain for participants. Starting from the bustling intersection of Biltmore Avenue and Patton Street, runners will navigate through neighborhoods known for their rich history and diverse culture before rounding back to the finish line on Patton Street itself. There are no official aid stations along this course; however, spectators in attendance can provide support at various points.
On race morning, expect clear blue skies with a UV index of 8.0 (Very High). The temperature will range from low-60s Fahrenheit early morning to mid-70s as the sun climbs higher into the sky. While the conditions are comfortable enough for most runners, participants should be prepared for some direct sunlight and wear appropriate sun protection.

To register, visit https://raceroster.com/events/2026/119189/pride-5k. The registration fee is $34.09 per participant. Early bird pricing ends on April 30th; after that date, the price increases to $37.50.
On race day, runners are encouraged to pick up their bibs at the Asheville City Hall located at 123 North Market Street from 8:30 AM until just before the start of the event. Bring your ID and any other necessary documents for age verification if required.
The Pride 5K starts on Patton Street near Biltmore Avenue, with a minimum age requirement of 16 years old to participate independently. First-time runners should ensure they have all their gear ready, including comfortable running shoes, appropriate clothing layers, water bottles, and sunscreen.
Since its inception in 2023, the Pride 5K has been more than just a race; it is an event that promotes unity and acceptance within Asheville’s LGBTQIA2S+ community. By supporting this run, participants contribute to vital programming for local organizations focused on advocacy and support.
