Pitsford Water Trail Races

Immerse yourself in the beauty of Northamptonshire’s countryside with Race Harborough's Pitsford Water Trail Races. The race offers two distances—10k and half marathon—that wind through scenic trails, tracks, and charming villages.
Starting at Brixworth Country Park on March 7th, runners will embark upon a journey that showcases the area’s natural splendor. For those new to trail running, the 10k route provides an ideal introduction with its manageable distance and varied terrain. The half marathon extends this experience for more seasoned athletes looking for a greater challenge.
The routes are marked with clear arrow signs throughout their entirety, ensuring runners can focus on enjoying the surroundings rather than navigating. As you run along Pitsford Water’s dam, take in panoramic views of the water as well as picturesque trails that wind through lush landscapes and charming villages like Holcot, Hannington, Walgrave, Old, and Scaldwell.
The 10k route starts by crossing the dam towards Pitsford before heading downhill over a causeway to rejoin the track alongside the lake. The half marathon extends this adventure with additional miles that take runners through more of Northamptonshire’s rolling hills and quaint villages.
Participants must be at least 16 years old for the 10k race and 17 for the half marathon, ensuring safety for all competitors. Race cut-off times are set to ensure fair competition and a smooth event flow; both races have a four-hour limit from start to finish.
The series is new in 2027, offering runners who complete each of the three events at Pitsford Water, Rutland Water, and Grafham Water discounted entry fees. The top male and female competitors across all distances will receive awards based on their cumulative time, adding an extra layer of excitement for those looking to excel.
Race day registration begins early with doors opening at 7:00 AM, allowing participants ample time to collect race numbers, timing chips, and pre-ordered t-shirts. The half marathon starts promptly at 9:00 AM, followed by the 10k starting fifteen minutes later.
On-course support includes water stations strategically placed along both routes for hydration needs. Professional first aid is available from Race Harborough’s dedicated team of volunteers who are equipped to assist runners throughout the race course and finish line area.
To ensure a safe running experience, participants must carry their mobile phones fully charged with emergency contact numbers pre-programmed in case of an unforeseen situation. In-ear headphones are not permitted for safety reasons; however, bone-conducting alternatives are acceptable if preferred.
Support from friends and family can be best enjoyed along the tracks at Pitsford Water due to limited parking in nearby villages. Runners will appreciate the stunning backdrop as they push themselves through this challenging yet rewarding race.
All finishers receive a specially commissioned medal commemorating their achievement, while top male and female competitors earn additional recognition with podium finishes. Free digital photos of runners crossing the line are also available post-race on Race Harborough’s Facebook page for those who wish to capture the moment.
