Oman Desert Marathon

The Oman Desert Marathon offers an unparalleled adventure into one of the world's most captivating landscapes. Set against the backdrop of historical forts and castles in Al-Wasil village, participants embark on either a 165 km run or a 100 km hike through diverse terrains that showcase the beauty and allure of Oman’s desert.
The journey begins at dawn near ancient fortresses before winding through lush palm oases and then into expansive dunes where nomadic communities still roam. Over five stages, runners encounter breathtaking vistas ranging from rugged mountain trails to serene coastal paths along the Arabian Sea. Each stage presents unique challenges that test endurance and self-reliance.
A standout feature of this event is its nocturnal run, allowing participants to experience the desert's enchanting beauty under a blanket of stars. The night’s stillness and silence create an unforgettable atmosphere as runners navigate through darkness, illuminated only by moonlight and the glow of distant landmarks.
Whether you choose to challenge yourself with daily distances ranging from 20 km up to 42 km or opt for a more leisurely hike covering about 20 km each day, this marathon promises an immersive journey into Oman’s rich history and stunning natural landscapes.
