Oak and Coal Ultra 2027

Experience the second annual Oak and Coal Ultra, presented by Quadrio Events, on July 17, 2027. This challenging yet rewarding 50k mixed terrain race takes you through the heart of North Nottinghamshire's rich history.
The journey begins at Ticking Clock Brewery in Shireoaks, a charming microbrewery run by an enthusiast from both running and brewing communities. The route winds its way through picturesque landscapes, including Clumber Park and other local woodlands, before venturing into quaint ex-colliery villages that dot the region's historical landscape.
Participants will encounter parts of the Robin Hood Way and Cuckoo Way, adding to the scenic beauty and cultural significance of this unique course. The race features four well-stocked aid stations spaced approximately 7 miles apart, allowing runners to replenish their supplies without carrying too much gear.
Registration opens at 7:30am on event day, with the start time set for 9am. Runners have a generous 10-hour window to complete the course, ensuring that everyone has ample opportunity to finish safely and comfortably. The route includes around 1,700 feet of elevation gain but remains navigable thanks to clear GPX files and written instructions provided by Quadrio Events.
Safety is paramount on this challenging terrain, with marshals stationed at aid stations and key road crossings to guide runners along the way. Upon reaching Event HQ and Ticking Clock Brewery for the start or finish, participants can enjoy music from a resident DJ while celebrating their achievement in style. Local food vendors will be present to cater to hungry athletes.
Each runner who completes this ultra will receive a bespoke pint glass commemorating the inaugural Oak and Coal Ultra, with unique colorways designed specifically for 2027 editions. This keepsake is an essential memento of your accomplishment.
Entry options include both solo and pairs registrations at discounted rates when entering together as a team. Participants can enter their most creative team name to vie for the Brewery's favorite prize.
