Not A Sprint Ultra Races

The 6th Annual Not-A-Sprint Ultra Races, set for Sunday, September 5, 2027, in Forest City, North Carolina, invites endurance enthusiasts to challenge themselves on the Thermal Belt Rail Trail. This unique event offers three timed races: a 12-hour race starting at 6:00 AM, a 6-hour race beginning at 6:30 AM, and a 3-hour race kicking off at 7:00 AM.
The flat course, which is an out-and-back route of 8.34 miles with minimal elevation change, allows participants to set their own pace—whether running, walking, or combining both styles. Aid stations are well-stocked along the paved trail, providing water and electrolyte drinks as well as race fuel for sustained performance.
For those aiming high, completing 50 miles within the 12-hour timeframe earns a custom Not-A-Sprint 50-Mile Belt Buckle. The event benefits Cancer Active, Inc., promoting physical activity, nutrition, mental wellness, education, and community support for individuals living with cancer.
Participants must bring their own hydration gear; no cups or bottles will be provided at the aid stations. Race day registration is available on Saturday from 4:30 to 7:00 PM at Pavilion on Park Square (POPS). On race morning, packet pickup occurs between 5:30 and 5:50 AM.
