About the Event
This New Year's Eve practice run circles the Yamanote Line clockwise from Tokyo Station, meeting at 9:00 in front of the Marunouchi South Exit ticket gates. Because stations are always close by, runners who feel unwell can drop out easily. Exit points are Osaki (10 km, around 11:00), Shinjuku (21 km, around 13:00) and Ikebukuro (30 km, around 15:00), with the full loop finishing back at Marunouchi Plaza around 17:00 to 18:00. Fees are 2,000 yen to Osaki, 2,400 yen to Shinjuku, 2,700 yen to Ikebukuro and 2,800 yen for the group-entry option. The pace is about 7 to 8 minutes per kilometer, with a convenience-store and toilet break roughly every 40 minutes. A running lesson is given before the start, and many people have run 42 km for the first time here. There is no baggage storage, so use a locker or carry a change of clothes in a backpack. Distances may be cut short if the weather turns, and the run is cancelled only in disaster-level conditions. 100 yen from each entry is donated to the Noto Peninsula disaster area.
