Neil McCover Memorial Half Marathon

On February 14, 2027, runners will gather for the 15th edition of the Neil McCover Memorial Half Marathon. Organized by Kirkintilloch Olympians and supported by Police Scotland and East Dunbartonshire Council, this scenic race winds through the rolling countryside of East Dunbartonshire on undulating public roads and pavements. The event honors the memory of Neil McCover, a dedicated athlete and community leader tragically lost in 2010.
Registration begins at Gartconner Primary School with no changing facilities available; portable toilets will be provided for participants' convenience. Runners are advised to aim for completion within two hours and thirty minutes as marshals may withdraw after this time due to safety concerns.
Entry fees vary based on UK Athletics or Scottish Athletic League registration status, ranging from £20 to £23 (including a £3 SAL levy). There will be no day-of entries accepted nor refunds issued. This half marathon is part of the inaugural Kirkintilloch Festival of Running, which also features a 12.5k and 5k fun run on the same day.
The Neil McCover Memorial Half Marathon celebrates not only athletic achievement but also pays tribute to Neil's significant contributions as an athlete, club chairman, junior coach, and police officer dedicated to community service.
