About the Event
THE CHALLENGE RACE NAGOYA 1 is a JAAF-certified event at the Shonai Ryokuchi marathon course in Nishi Ward, Nagoya, with registration and start at the Shonai Ryokuchi athletics stadium. The loop is a flat, fast 2.5 km circuit, and the final laps of the half and full marathons finish inside the 400 m stadium. Events are the full marathon (11,000 yen), 30 km (7,700 yen), half marathon (7,700 yen), 10K (5,500 yen), 5K (3,300 yen) and 1 mile (3,300 yen). Registration runs from 8:00, the opening ceremony is at 9:10, the main events start at 9:30 and the 1 mile at 9:33. Eleven pacer groups cover finish times from 2:40 to 4:20 for the full marathon. Time limits are 40 minutes for the 5K, 90 minutes for the 10K, 2:30 for the half, 3:12 for the 30 km and 4:30 for the full. Water and gel are available twice per lap, runners line up five minutes before the start so they can warm up until then, and results and photos are provided free of charge on the day. It is a designated event of the R.LEAGUE runner league, whose members get 10 percent off entry from their second start. There is no baggage storage; a baggage area is set up beside registration, and parking is available in the park.
