Mrs. McCormick's Ice House Race returns on January 16, 2027, inviting runners to explore the winter wonderland of Ontario County Park (OCP). This year marks an exciting addition with the introduction of a snowshoe race and reduced registration fees, making it more accessible than ever before.

As part of FarFetched Enterprises, Goose Adventure Racing, and Doody Runs' collaborative effort to keep trail runners active during winter months, Mrs. McCormick's Ice House serves as a celebration of community and cold-weather endurance.
The race offers athletes three loop options: one 4-mile lap or the challenge of two laps for those seeking an extended adventure through OCP’s scenic trails. The course is meticulously designed to avoid areas prone to heavy snow accumulation, ensuring runners can enjoy optimal conditions while navigating varied terrain that tests both strength and agility. Race day adjustments may be made based on trail conditions and weather.
A key highlight of the event is its emphasis on enjoying winter's frosty elements responsibly. While traditional running shoes with aggressive tread are recommended for traction, participants are encouraged to bring additional gear like gaiters or Nordic skis to enhance their experience in snowy terrain. The race itself does not permit snowshoes due to insurance and permitting restrictions, but a demo from Dion Snowshoes will be available onsite.
Post-race festivities at Wilson Lodge offer runners a chance to unwind with hot beverages, freshly made buckwheat pancakes drizzled with Naples Maple Farm syrup, peanut butter, and hazelnut spread. The lodge provides real bathrooms for changing clothes and ample space by the fireplace to warm up after the cold run.
Race HQ is located conveniently within Ontario County Park at Gannett Hill's Wilson Lodge where parking will be plowed as needed before race day. Participants can check in starting from 9:00 AM, with a final cutoff time of 9:50 AM for same-day registration and athlete meetings. The race begins promptly at 10:00 AM.
Event organizers have made participant flexibility a priority by allowing distance switching until the morning of the event without additional fees. Deferrals to next year’s race are also possible through January 14th, while refunds can be requested up to January 8th with no penalty or transfer charges beyond that date.
