On Sunday, September 27, 2026, the city of Edmonton will come together for the second annual Move for Melanoma 5K run and walk at Whitemud Park. This community-driven event aims to raise awareness about melanoma, skin cancer, and ocular melanoma while promoting sun safety and early detection. The 5K course winds through scenic trails in Whitemud Park, offering runners and walkers a beautiful backdrop of nature as they traverse the park's lush greenery and serene pathways. Participants can expect an enjoyable experience with rolling hills that provide both challenges and breathtaking views along the route. After crossing the finish line, families are invited to stay for a day full of activities designed for all ages. Enjoy live music performances from local artists, savor delicious lunch options at food stalls, and warm up around a bonfire while making s’mores. Kids can get creative with face painting and crafts, or engage in lawn games that promise fun and friendly competition. Registration is now open, and participants are encouraged to bring friends, family members, and colleagues to join the cause. The event aims to raise $25,000 for Canadians affected by skin cancer through donations collected during the race day activities. Race kits can be picked up at 8537 109 St NW in Edmonton from 2 - 5pm on Saturday, September 26. Join us this year as we move together to support those impacted by melanoma and work towards a healthier future for all Albertans. Participants are invited to register early and be part of the movement that makes a difference.

Edmonton is the capital city of Alberta.
