Immerse yourself in the natural beauty of Derbyshire’s Peak District with the Monsal Trail Half Marathon and 10k Race, set for both Saturday, October 24th and Sunday, October 25th, 2026. This event offers runners a unique opportunity to explore one of the most iconic trails in England, featuring breathtaking views over the Derbyshire Dales. The race starts at Bakewell’s historic old railway station site, marking the beginning of your journey along the Monsal Trail – an idyllic former Midland Railway line now transformed into a scenic pathway. Runners will traverse four tunnels and cross the magnificent Monsal Viaduct, surrounded by lush greenery and rolling hills that provide perfect autumn training conditions. Participants can choose between half marathon and 10k distances on either day or both days if desired. The undulating terrain offers an engaging challenge for runners of all levels, while the traffic-free trail ensures a peaceful running experience amidst stunning natural beauty. The event is known for its friendly atmosphere and welcoming environment that caters to runners with varying abilities. Upon crossing the finish line, participants will receive a bespoke medal commemorating their achievement along with complimentary race-day photographs. Trophies and prizes are awarded to top performers in each category. Registration fees are £35 for the half marathon and £30 for the 10k race (subject to availability), and all registered runners will be provided with detailed event information prior to the race day. Join us this autumn as we celebrate the beauty of Derbyshire’s Peak District through running. Whether you’re training for a full marathon or simply looking for an enjoyable way to explore some of England's most picturesque landscapes, the Monsal Trail Half Marathon and 10k Race is not to be missed.
