Amberaid 30 Trail Race and Petit Raid

Nestled within the picturesque Amber Valley, Derbyshire, just east of the Peak District, awaits an exhilarating trail run that promises both challenge and beauty. The main course spans 31 miles through undulating countryside paths and trails, while those seeking a shorter option can opt for the Petit Raid, covering 20 miles.
The adventure begins at Ashover Village Hall on Milken Lane in Ashover S45 0BA, where registration takes place from 8am to 8:45am. Participants then set off at 9am with breathtaking views and diverse terrain stretching ahead of them until the finish line at 6pm.
The route for both distances is marked by a series of punchy climbs and engaging descents that weave through lush woodlands, offering expansive vistas over the rolling hills and valleys. The trails are largely unmarked but detailed route notes and GPX files are provided to assist with navigation. For added security, participants can bring their own paper maps.
Key highlights on both routes include CP1 at Tupton after 7 miles and CP2 in Wessington at 13.5 miles. Those tackling the full Amberaid course will also encounter CP3 near Fritchley around the 20-mile mark before heading back to Wessington for a second time at CP4, which is located approximately halfway through their journey.
All checkpoints offer water and some provide food as well, ensuring runners stay fueled throughout this demanding yet rewarding escapade. The event concludes with a medal awarded to every finisher along with light refreshments at the finish line.
Safety measures are in place across the course, including medical coverage both out on the trails and back at race HQ for added peace of mind. Participants can also choose to purchase XCover insurance if they wish to secure their entry against unforeseen circumstances that might prevent them from attending.
