Mile Light Ice Run
A Moosehead Marathon Event
Saturday, March 13, 2027 | 9:00 AM
This 2-mile out-and-back fun run begins in downtown Greenville, Maine, taking participants across the frozen lake to the iconic Mile Light before returning to the starting location.
March is one of the best times to experience Moosehead Lake on foot! As the days grow warmer, the sun softens and flattens the winter snowpack, while cold nights freeze it back into a firm, packed surface. This natural freeze-thaw cycle can create an incredible running platform across the frozen lake.
The Mile Light Ice Run isn't just a winter adventure — it's a fundraiser supporting the Moosehead Marathon!
Proceeds from this event will help fund the 2027 Moosehead Marathon, allowing us to continue growing our signature race, improving the runner experience, and bringing more people to the Moosehead Lake region.
Depending on conditions, we may also groom portions of the course to provide an even better running experience. Our team will carefully evaluate ice and surface conditions leading up to race day, with safety and runnability as our top priorities. We'll only proceed if conditions allow for a safe, runnable course.
