Explore the historic grounds of Fort McClellan on March 6, 2027, for an unforgettable endurance challenge that combines history with adventure. Located near Anniston, Alabama, this former U.S. Army post offers a unique backdrop to your running experience.
The race route follows a rugged but runnable trail loop spanning approximately 4.1 miles around the McClellan Bike Trails at Brigadier D H Stem Road. With an elevation gain of about 300 feet per lap, participants can expect rolling hills and some rocky terrain, though it remains accessible for most runners.
Competitors have two options: a 4-hour race or an 8-hour endurance test, both starting promptly at 7am from the McClellan Bike Trailhead. The event is designed to be self-supported with aid stations located along the course offering essential supplies such as water, Coke, Ginger Ale, and Tailwind energy drink. At the start/finish area, runners will find a fully stocked station providing snacks including vegan options upon request.
To enhance your experience, consider setting up personal aid stations at the trailhead or near your vehicle for easy access to additional supplies throughout the day. Remember that this event is cupless, encouraging participants to bring reusable containers and contribute to sustainability efforts.
All registered runners will receive a soft t-shirt as part of their race package, with orders placed after February 3rd likely unavailable due to production deadlines. The top male and female finishers in each distance category will be awarded special recognition for their achievements. For those looking to push the limits, completing four loops within the 4-hour window or eight laps over the full duration earns runners a unique award.
Race day packet pickup is available from 6am to 6:50am at the trailhead, ensuring you have everything needed before heading out onto the course. Given that registration funds cover essential race expenses and logistics, refunds are not offered but transfers can be arranged by contacting organizers directly if necessary.
