About the Event

Welcome to the inaugural McAllen Triathlon Challenge, a fast, spectator-friendly sprint triathlon designed for experienced triathletes and first-time competitors alike.

Athletes will begin with a 250-meter pool swim at McAllen Municipal Pool using a time-trial start. Participants will self-seed by anticipated swim pace and enter the pool individually at intervals.

After exiting the pool, athletes will enter the transition area located in the McAllen Municipal Pool parking lot and begin a 20-kilometer (12.4-mile) bike course heading north on Bicentennial Boulevard. Bicentennial Boulevard will be closed to vehicular traffic between Pecan Boulevard (FM 495) and Nolana Avenue. From Nolana Avenue north to the turnaround near State Highway 107, athletes will ride within a coned, traffic-controlled portion of the roadway shared with vehicular traffic. Athletes must remain within the designated race lane and obey all instructions from law-enforcement officers, race officials, and course personnel.

Athletes will return to the transition area at McAllen Municipal Pool and begin a 5-kilometer (3.1-mile) run on Bicentennial Boulevard between Pecan Boulevard and Nolana Avenue before returning to the finish area.

The transition and finish area at McAllen Municipal Pool provide a convenient and spectator-friendly venue for family and friends.

The transition area will be located in the McAllen Municipal Pool parking lot.

Race Distance: 250-meter Swim / 20K Bike / 5K Run

This is an individual-only event. Minimum age is 18 years old on race day.
