Manitou’s Revenge

53 miles. 15,000 ft of climbing. The Catskills. Manitou's Revenge is not like any other ultra you've run before. Starting in Windham, N.Y., on the northern Black Dome Trail, then following the Long Path from Acra Point to downtown Phoenicia. Grueling, gnarly, nasty — rocky, precipitous, sometimes hand‑over‑hand. The course gets progressively harder as you go. The average runner will face the toughest terrain in the dark. Remote aid stations — be prepared to go 3‑4 hours between them. Reasonably self‑sufficient required. Registration opens February 1 for past finishers only, February 22 for general. If you register during the veteran window and are not a previous finisher, your registration will be removed without notification. Refunds minus UltraSignup fee until May 1. Free refund for pregnancy or postpartum needs.

Registration — Strict Process:

• February 1 – February 21: Registration open ONLY to past finishers (Manitou Veterans).
• February 22: General registration opens.
• IMPORTANT: If you register between February 1 and February 21 and you are NOT a previous Manitou finisher, your registration will be removed from the waitlist. YOU WILL NOT BE INFORMED OF THIS REMOVAL.
• "We humbly ask you to adhere to our STRAIGHT FORWARD registration process and there will not be no problems."
• When you register, you are signing up onto a temporary waitlist. Once organizers determine you are qualified, you will be sent an invitation to complete your registration.

The Course — Grueling, Gnarly, Nasty:

• Start: Windham, N.Y. (591 Big Hollow Rd) — northern Black Dome Trail
• Follows the Long Path from Acra Point to downtown Phoenicia, N.Y.
• Approximately 15,000 ft of climbing — much of it rocky and precipitous
• Some runnable sections, but you will more often find yourself hiking uphill or down, sometimes hand over hand
• The course gets progressively more difficult as you go along
• The average runner may have to tackle the hardest terrain in the dark
• Remote aid stations — be prepared to spend 3 or 4 hours between them
• Reasonably self‑sufficient required — carry water, nutrition, and essential gear

Why Run It? — The Rewards:

• The Catskills are truly scenic and wonderful — when you can look up every now and then to sneak a peak
• This will certainly become a memorable experience for anyone who takes on the challenge
• Not about fast times — about surviving and conquering one of the East Coast's toughest 50‑mile ultras
