Louisville Lovin the Hills

About the Event

Lovin' the Hills, an iconic trail running event nestled within Louisville's lush forest trails, has been captivating runners since its inception in 2004. Organized by Eric Grossman and renowned for its challenging terrain, this race is a bucket-list item for any serious endurance athlete.
The centerpiece of Lovin’ the Hills remains the grueling yet rewarding 50k distance that winds through three distinct trail sections: the Red/Orange Trail (6 miles), the Blue/Yost/Purple Heart stretch (15 miles), and finally, Siltstone and Scott's Gap. Each segment offers a unique blend of steep ascents, technical descents, and serene forest paths, making it one of the most challenging 50k races in the region.
Participants can expect an immersive experience with breathtaking scenery that includes dense woodlands and varied terrain. The race is not just about covering distance; it's about conquering hills and immersing oneself in nature’s beauty. Each step along the single-track trail reveals new challenges and vistas, fostering a deep connection between runners and their environment.
Post-race festivities take place at the Horine Center located right at the start/finish line. This warm gathering spot is perfect for those chilly winter days when snow might be on the ground. A feast of homemade soups and hearty meals catered by True North Catering awaits, offering both meat-based dishes and vegan options to satisfy all palates.
Race day registration starts early in the morning at 7 AM until race start time or you can opt for packet pickup during dinner hours from February 6th, 4 PM to 7 PM at Quest Outdoors. The pasta dinner provided by True North Catering is a free pre-race treat, ensuring runners are fueled and ready for their challenge.
In the unlikely event of severe weather conditions necessitating a postponement, Lovin’ the Hills has a backup plan set for May 29th to ensure that participants can still enjoy this unique experience. This date was strategically chosen after last year's snow-related delay, offering an alternative setting amidst springtime beauty and warmer temperatures.
Training runs leading up to race day are also organized in January, providing runners with the opportunity to acclimate themselves to the course while building camaraderie among fellow participants.
For more information or assistance, Eric Grossman can be reached at 502-220-3440. Join us for an unforgettable adventure on February 6th and fall in love with these hills just as many runners have over the years.
Every runner's journey culminates not only in crossing the finish line but also in celebrating the spirit of perseverance and community at Lovin’ the Hills.
