Join us for an exciting mini-taster session of the Longbridge 100 Backyard Ultra course on December 6, 2026. This unique event offers runners both a taste of the backyard ultra format and the opportunity to tackle a challenging hilly trail marathon in a controlled environment. Registration begins at Cadence Cafe in Litlington at 9:30am, followed by race briefings before the start time of 10am. Runners will experience six laps or "yards" around a loop course that measures precisely 4 miles and 880 feet (6.7 kilometers). Each yard is completed within an hour under strict backyard ultra rules. The first lap concludes at approximately 10:50 am, with subsequent yards starting promptly every hour thereafter after three-minute warnings signaled by whistles and a final bell to start the next round. Runners must collect a token from each turnaround point to prove their completion of that yard. After completing four laps, runners face an additional challenge on lap five and six—running an extra kilometer to achieve a full marathon distance. Those who complete all six yards plus the added kilometers will receive unique rewards such as bespoke yard/token boxes with collected tokens, commemorative mementos (if finishing within one hour), bags of coffee from Liquid Spirit Roasters, and a can of Longman Brewery Beer. The fastest lap times on laps two through four are also recognized. The event features full medical coverage and portable toilets for runners' use during breaks between yards. Basic provisions like water, fruit, flapjacks, and malt loaf will be provided at the turnaround points, but participants should bring their own cups and additional hydration/nutrition supplies. A spacious marquee is set up near Cadence Cafe to provide a resting area between laps. The cafe itself remains open for snacks and hot drinks throughout the event day. Whether you're looking to test your endurance in a backyard ultra format or simply conquer a tough hilly trail marathon, this mini-taster session offers an engaging experience with scenic trails around Litlington. This event adheres strictly to official Backyard Ultra rules, ensuring a fair and challenging competition for all participants. Don't miss out on the chance to immerse yourself in this unique running adventure!
