The inaugural LOC Saturday Series and Junior League of the 2026-27 season kicks off with an exciting day at Urswick Scout Camp near Ulverston. This event marks the start of eight thrilling races throughout the year, designed to cater to both seasoned orienteers and newcomers. Registration opens early in the afternoon on race day from 1pm, allowing participants ample time to prepare before starting their courses between 1:30 pm and 2:45 pm. The camp offers a variety of terrain for all levels of experience, with three colour-coded routes—White, Yellow, and Orange—and two Score courses that last 45 minutes each. The White and Yellow tracks are ideal for beginners looking to get acquainted with the sport, while those seeking more challenge can opt for the slightly trickier Orange course. Participants may choose their initial course upon entry but have the flexibility to switch if they feel it's necessary on race day. For individuals aiming to participate in league courses, select 'yes' during registration and specify your school year group and name from the provided dropdown menus. After completing a first course, you can register for an additional non-league counting option should you wish. The White, Yellow, and Orange routes all contribute points towards the Junior League standings. In addition to solo runners, two beginners of similar age groups may enter together as part of a team by registering separately but running concurrently on race day. Families or pairs interested in open courses can select 'no' for league participation and include additional names and ages during registration if needed. Extra maps are available upon request from the organizers.
