Last Buckeye Standing Backyard Ultra

Last Buckeye Standing, set to take place on August 21, 2027, at Alum Creek State Park in Central Ohio, invites endurance enthusiasts for an unparalleled challenge. This unique backyard ultra unfolds with runners competing through a scenic 4.167-mile loop along the Alum Creek Hiking Trail, featuring grassy ski paths and wooded singletrack terrain.
The race begins promptly at 7:00 AM, with new loops starting every hour on the hour until only one runner remains capable of completing another round within the time limit. Each participant must complete each lap in exactly 60 minutes to stay in contention; missing a loop results in elimination. The course is marked clearly and follows standard Backyard Ultra rules.
Competitors should prepare with ample nutrition, hydration, recovery essentials, night running equipment like headlamps, and appropriate clothing for varying weather conditions. Crew support is allowed only at the designated start/finish area between loops, ensuring runners can refuel and rest effectively during breaks.
Alum Creek State Park offers a serene backdrop to this grueling yet rewarding event, where strategy plays as crucial a role as physical endurance. Whether your goal is to complete several laps or push for an unprecedented distance record, Last Buckeye Standing provides an unforgettable test of mental fortitude and perseverance in the heart of Ohio’s natural beauty.
Registration closes on August 20 at 5:00 PM; email [email protected] for late entries.
