Laps For Love Backyard Ultra

Endure Together: Laps For Love Backyard Ultra
Join us for an extraordinary endurance challenge that goes beyond the race itself, fostering community and creating meaningful impact. Every registration includes a $100 donation to Family Promise of Greater Wichita, supporting local families with children who are experiencing homelessness.
The event takes place at Sedgwick County Park on September 4, 2027, following the traditional Backyard Ultra format. The course is a challenging yet runnable loop of 4.167 miles that winds through the park's paved paths with minimal elevation changes. A new loop begins every hour starting from 9:00 AM CST. To continue in the race, runners must complete each loop within an hour; any remaining time can be used for rest and refueling at a stocked aid station near the start/finish area.
The race continues until only one runner remains, with no preset distance or time limit. Last year's winner, Brenyn St Vrain, battled through extreme heat to claim victory after 37 hours of racing over 154 miles. The event is designed to be a community-focused experience where runners support each other and the cause.
On race day, gates open at Sedgwick County Park just before dawn, allowing participants to set up camp between 6:00 AM and the start time. Check-in begins promptly at 7:30 AM with mandatory announcements for all runners starting at 8:45 AM. A detailed map will be distributed a week in advance to ensure everyone is prepared.
Runners are encouraged to bring their own supplies, though a main aid station offering water, light snacks, and Ultraverse Supplements Proxima C ensures you stay fueled throughout the day. As the race progresses, solid food meals become available at the aid station as well.
Crews can set up tents or canopy shelters near the start/finish area to support their runners, but pacers are not permitted in this community-driven event. Please respect fellow participants and park volunteers while enjoying a unique running experience with scenic views of Sedgwick County Park.
All registered runners who complete at least one loop will receive a finisher item, and those signing up before the t-shirt deadline can look forward to wearing their race gear proudly. Join us for an unforgettable day that supports families in need through your dedication on this challenging course.
Participants are reminded of Kansas's unpredictable weather conditions and should prepare accordingly without expecting refunds or deferrals due to adverse conditions.
