Laois Athletics – Masters & Development XC Races 2026

On November 1, 2026, Emo Court Demesne near Emo, County Laois will host the vibrant and competitive atmosphere of the Laois Cross Country Championships. This championship offers races for various age groups ranging from young juniors to seasoned masters athletes.
The day kicks off with a fun run designed specifically for children born in 2019 or later at 10:45 AM, setting an energetic tone before more serious competition begins shortly after. The main event starts promptly at 11:00 AM, featuring distances that cater to different age and skill levels.
For the youngest competitors, girls and boys aged U10 will run a distance of 800 meters each, while those in the U12 category (born in 2015 or later) tackle an extended course measuring 1,200 meters. As athletes progress to the U14 division (born in 2013 and earlier), they face a more challenging distance of 1,600 meters.
Junior ladies aged between 16 and under 20 as of December 31, 2025 will compete over 3,500 meters alongside Masters women. Meanwhile, the Junior Men's race takes place concurrently with the men’s masters category at a demanding distance of 6,000 meters.
Participants must be members of an athletics club to enter and all entries are made through the online system by the closing date. The historic setting of Emo Court Demesne provides not only scenic beauty but also a unique backdrop for this competitive day in Irish cross-country racing.
