About the Event

The Lake District Ultra is an epic adventure across one of England's most breathtaking landscapes, spanning the entire width of the Lake District National Park. The race begins at St. Bees on the west coast near the starting point of the Northern Traverse and winds its way through some of the park’s most iconic regions.
Participants will experience a diverse range of terrain as they traverse Ennerdale and Borrowdale before crossing Grasmere Common, passing by serene Grisedale Tarn, and continuing into Patterdale. The route then climbs over Kidsty Pike, offering panoramic views across rugged peaks and valleys, before following the shores of Haweswater to the finish line at Shap.
This ultra-distance event is not only a showcase of natural beauty but also a significant challenge for runners. It serves as an excellent precursor for those looking to take on the more demanding Northern Traverse in future years. The race provides an opportunity to immerse oneself in the stunning scenery and rugged terrain that define this part of England, making it a memorable experience for both seasoned ultrarunners and ambitious newcomers.
