About the Event

The 12th edition of this trail race in the Kiwa district of Kumano has drawn runners from Japan and abroad since its first year. It blends trail running with a tour of local sights, including the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage routes that give the event its name, the Maruyama Senmaida terraced rice fields, the ruins of Akagi Castle, the sea of clouds at Tsuenomine, the Dorokyo gorge and Nunobiki Falls. Three courses are offered: short (10.5 km), middle (25.2 km) and long (49.7 km).
