Kings Traverse Ultra

Presented by Dirty Wolf Ultras & Mountaineer Rumble Events The Kings Traverse Ultra is a 31-mile point-to-point journey from Crowders Mountain State Park, North Carolina to Kings Mountain State Park, South Carolina—a true traverse built around one simple idea: keep moving forward. Jointly produced by Dirty Wolf Racing and Mountaineer Rumble Events , this race is equal parts trail adventure, endurance test, and stubborn refusal to quit.

Course Description

The course will consist of single and double track trails, fire road and portions of gravel roads. It will be marked with ribbon and arrows, giving runners visual confirmation along the route. Dial in your pace on UltraPacer View on CalTopo

Aid Stations & Support

Expect basic trail-race fuel including pickles, cereal, pretzels, candy, fruit, and bacon, along with water, Tailwind, and a variety of sodas. First-aid supplies will also be available. If you decide to drop out of the race, please inform race directors or aid station captains. Your safety matters and the race team needs to know where all runners are.

Runner Experience

Runners and walkers are welcome but keep in mind there is an 11-hour cutoff. That's an average of roughly 21:30 per mile, including all aid-station stops, so pacing and time management matter. Trekking poles are permitted. Your bib must be worn on the front of your shirt or shorts and remain clearly visible throughout the race. Finish the 31 mile traverse and you'll earn a beautiful finishers medal. Awards will also be given to Top Three Male and Top Three Female Overall runners. Download the Runner Guide here

Race Day Parking

There is absolutely NO race day parking at Crowders Mountain State Park-Linwood Access. All runners must park at Kings Mountain State Park and take the shuttle or have someone drop them off at Linwood Access.

Shuttle Service Available

Shuttle service will be available from Kings Mountain State Park to Crowders Mountain State Park on the morning of the race. This way all vehicles will be waiting at the finish line. On the checkout for the race you will see an add-on for a shuttle ride to the start line (Linwood Access). The charge is $25.00. If you do NOT pay for the bus ride to the start, you will have to find your own transportation to the start line. We will NOT allow you to board the bus if you did NOT pay for the bus.

Fine Print

Entry fees are non-refundable if the event is cancelled, including cancellation because of inclement weather. Entries will not roll over to the following year. If you need to defer for military deployment or pregnancy, contact the race directors. This is a private event, so only registered participants are permitted to partake from the aid stations. No pacers allowed.
