Kingfisher Challenge

About the Event

Nestled on the outskirts of Coventry, Coombe Abbey Park offers runners an enchanting setting for the upcoming 6-hour endurance race. Organized and managed by Coventry City Council, this scenic venue is easily accessible via Junction 2 of the M6 or a short train ride from Coventry station.
The event caters to all abilities, whether you're looking to run a few laps at your own pace or challenge yourself with an extended distance. The park's stone pathways and open grass meadows provide varied terrain that can be muddy depending on weather conditions but generally offer hard surfaces and plenty of tree cover for shade during the warmer months.
Participants are encouraged to join in as many 5k loops around Coombe Abbey Park as they wish, with no pressure from organizers. Whether you aim to complete just one lap or push yourself over a marathon distance (8 laps) or even further, the event offers flexibility and support throughout its six-hour duration. The race is also open to canicross enthusiasts who must maintain control of their dogs at all times.
Entry fees are tiered based on early registration, starting at £37 before June 11th for affiliated runners (unaffiliated entrants pay an additional £2). A partnership with Earth Runs allows participants the option to receive a Big Bear Tree Token instead of a traditional medal. This token not only plants a tree but also includes wildflower seeds that can be cultivated by the recipient.
The event supports Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity, giving runners the opportunity to raise funds and contribute directly to this vital cause through their registration process or personal fundraising efforts.
For those unable to attend on race day, an On-Demand option via Skamper offers a unique way to participate by running at your convenience with a medal sent straight to you upon completion.
Coombe Abbey Park’s serene beauty combined with the supportive atmosphere and flexible format makes this 6-hour event an ideal choice for runners of all levels looking to explore their limits in a picturesque setting.
